Service Area/ Land Acknowledgement

The Northwest Peace FASD Service Network area includes the 4 major service communities of Peace River, High Prairie and Grande Prairie and Grande Cache. The network boundaries reach north to Manning, east to Kinuso, south to Fox Creek and west to the border of British Columbia.  Our Network has one of the largest service areas in Alberta.

Northwest Peace FASD humbly recognizes that our commitment to providing services extends across the rich and vibrant landscapes of Treaty 8 territory. This sacred land has been, and continues to be, the ancestral and contemporary dwelling place for a tapestry of diverse First Nations, Métis, and Inuit communities. In the spirit of gratitude, we honor the traditional grounds of Duncan’s First Nation, Horse Lake First Nation, Sturgeon Lake Cree Nation, Drift pile First Nation, and Whitefish First Nation, as well as the resilient spirits of the Three Métis Settlements of Peavine, Gift Lake, and East Prairie. In our shared journey, we also embrace a collaborative alliance with the Aseniwuche Winewak Nation of Canada, a community embodying a unique history and ancestry, firmly rooted in the majestic Rocky Mountains.

As we acknowledge the historical narratives etched into this landscape, we express profound appreciation for the privilege to work, live, and learn on this land. It is our commitment to stride forward hand in hand with these communities, fostering friendship and unity, with the collective aspiration to nurture positive transformations for both present and future generations.
